What do volcanoes, colonial cities, emerald lakes, jungles, and historic ruins have in common? They're all in Guatemala, a nation in Central America. The nation served as the very hub of the Mayan civilization, which was quite developed for its time.

When the Spanish invaded the area in the sixteenth century, they left behind a legacy of numerous colonial cities, the most renowned of which being Antigua. Additionally, you should visit one of the vibrant markets where you may buy locally produced crafts. In Guatemala, there are a lot of wonderful locations to stay, from lakeside to hillside, where you can unwind after a long day of sightseeing and outdoor sports.

  1. Casa Palopo: The patio at Casa Palopo is an excellent site to catch stunning views of Guatemala's fabled Lake Atitlan. The views are breathtaking whether you're relaxing in a chaise or swimming in the infinity pool. The hotel is a fantastic location to watch the making of fresh tortillas or a weaving display of Mayan textiles. This little boutique hotel has a few rooms with blue walls that were painted with lime, sugar, and salt. Mayan handicrafts are used to embellish the interior everywhere.

  2. Las Lagunas Boutique Hotel: When exploring the world of the ancient Mayans, the Las Lagunas Boutique Hotel is an excellent place to start. A better option would be to explore both the beautiful remains of Tikal and the jungle on the hotel's private nature park. In your opulent room, you may also enjoy some bird- or sunset-watching. Despite the fact that your room overlooks the water, swimming in the lake is not recommended unless you don't mind sharing it with crocodiles. Instead, unwind in your personal hot tub.

  3. Laguna Lodge Eco-Resort: Few hotels have their own natural area, but Laguna Lodge Eco-Resort does. The lodge is a boat ride away from Lake Atitlan in the Mayan highlands. The reserve isn't very large, but it does feature a walkable high altitude tropical dry forest. The hotel was built of volcanic stone, which is only appropriate considering that you can see three volcanoes from there. In the rooms and public spaces, there is more stone and regional antiques.

  4. Hotel Candelaria Antigua: You can easily acclimatise to life in Guatemala thanks to the Hotel Candelaria Antigua. Reviewers have called the hotel rustic, but it's so much more than that. It's only a short stroll from the old town centre. The furniture was created by local craftspeople using local wood. The walls are decorated with pieces of locally made art. Decor in the rooms is Mayan-inspired and includes blue, crimson, and purple hues. Go to the rooftop patio and solarium for breathtaking views of the surrounding area and volcanoes.

  5. La Reunion Golf Resort: There is no better place to play golf in a breathtaking environment than La Reunion Golf Resort, which is located about 30 minutes outside of Antigua. One of the best golf courses in the world is the Fuego Maya course. On this 18-hole Pete and Perry Dye-designed course, the meticulously maintained greens are flanked by beautiful, emerald woodlands. The view, which includes four volcanoes, is the icing on the cake. The rooftop restaurant and bar provides a view of these volcanoes as well. With private patios, infinity pools, and private outdoor showers, the rooms aren't too bad either.
